In January 2020, The California Medal of Merit was presented to Colonel Robert B. Gerber, California State Guard
“For exceptionally meritorious service as Deputy Commander of the Installation Support Command from 1 January 2017 to 30 April 2019. Col (CA) Robert Gerber’s outstanding performance throughout this period was marked by selfless service, devotion to duty, and relentless dedication in mentoring and motivating ISC Service Members to enhance their performance and professionalism. His integrity, diligence, meticulous attention to detail and passion for excellence is in keeping with the finest traditions and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, the California State Guard, the California Military Department and the State of California.”
In September 1961, Dr. Gerber received a Letter of Commendation for heroic action in an airplane rescue operation at Medina Lake, Texas while stationed at the Medical Field Service School in San Antonio, Texas.
While serving in the United States Army in West Germany, Dr. Gerber received a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Service by the 9th Hospital Center, US Army Europe.
In 1981, The Los Angeles City Council Presented Dr. Gerber with a Resolution in Recognition of his Professional and Civic Activities.
The Israel Bond Organization, at a dinner in his honor, awarded him the “Sword of Haganah” for his activities on behalf of the State of Israel.
Dr Gerber also received Special Recognition in the Congressional Record of the United States Congress for Human Rights Activities on behalf of Soviet Jewry.

Dr.Gerber contributed part of a chapter in “Current Pediatric Therapy, 9th Edition” by Gellis and Kagan.
